On Saturday, July 6, 2013, around 11:45 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies were on patrol on Highway 367 by Campbell Station where they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Three subjects immediately exited the vehicle and one ran inside a Campbell Station residence near the site of the stop.
Deputies followed the subject to the residence and asked the homeowner if they could search the premises. Upon search, the officers found approximately 2.5 grams of ICE Methamphetamine, a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and two syringes.
Michael Bornhoft,and Sarah Gates were taken into custodyalong with a third subject. Bornhoft was charged with driving on suspended license, failure to dim lights, obstruction of governmental operations, and possession of methamphetamine. Gates was charged with possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. The third subject was not charged and released.
Bornhoft and Gates appeared before Judge Barbara A. Griffin, Newport District Court on Monday afternoon. Bond was set for Bornhoft at $25,000. Bond was set at $10,000 for Gates.
Both subjects are currently out on bond and are scheduled to appear before Judge Harold Erwin in Third Judicial Circuit Court on Wednesday, August 7.
